It's an early spring morning. Still sleeping streets are lit by first sunny rays. Somewhere quite nearby, birds are chirping. But golden domes are shining as fire. First melodious songs of church bells are heard. Ob, the queen of the Siberian rivers, is carrying its waters sublimely. Have you guessed what city I mean? You aren't mistaken. It's Novosibirsk - not only a great city, but also the face of Siberia.
It's generous and affable like a mighty giant with a huge keen heart.
It's the city of plants which are scattered everywhere on its territory. It's the city of distance, where a trip to neighboring city district seems like the whole travel. And the streets are so wide, that when people cross the street traffic lights lose their patience. It's the city, which combines beauty of architecture and genuine painting of nature: a young forest is changing on light birch groves. And the city is girded by a compact circle of mighty pines. These giant pines heard a lot, know a lot, saw a lot, but they will never tell somebody their stories. Novosibirsk is a modern city, which knows what rhythms of the 21st century mean, indeed it has grown up quicker than Chicago, only for 60 years it made a step from a village to such large sizes.
Yes, that's the face of Novosibirsk, but indeed this city has not only the face, but and its own beautiful soul. Surely, it gives life. Cities as people may have beautiful or apathy, expressive or indifference face. And not only architecture, width of streets and location define it. People, inhabitants of these streets and houses create the face of a city and bring up its soul. Indeed that's why it accepts and understands so naturally and with flatter the modern art. Novosibirsk is one of the large theatre centers of our country. Nowadays the city has more than ten theatres. But I want to tell about widely famous in our country and abroad Novosibirsk Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet. Yes,it has been written a lot about it, and my essay doesn't claim to describe the sight of this outstanding centre of culture widely. I want only to tell my impressions and let it be, like in crystal, the reflection of this world of spiritual beauty.
The theatre was opened in legendary days of our Victory in May 1945. The construction had been ending in the days of blood battles of the Great Patriotic War and became the symbol of the belief in the victory. Very quickly the young theatre loudly presented itself with the help of a very interesting art director and performers .They are gathered together on its scene. Their names are simply entered in the history of the Russian theatre art. They are the managers I.Zak, N.Phaktorovich, I. Chudnovskiy, A Djolenz, the directress R.Tihomirov, L. Mihailov, the singers L. Miasnikova, N.Pervosvanskaya, V. Arcanov, P. Kokurin and others. These people helped spectators to love, understand and feel the art. The theatre has the rarest size and the originality of the spectator's hall and the scene.
It's necessary to tell about bright performances, which created the name for the theatre, authority and attachment of spectator. Such as: "Don Zhuan" by Mozart, "Othello" by Verdi, "Boris Godunov" by Mussorgsky, "Pikovaya Dama" by Tchaikovsky, "Letuchiy Gollandec" by Vagner ets.
Yes, today, of course there are not the same performers, other directors, but performances don't lose their brightness and vice versa with every new theatre season they catch the spirit of spectators more and more, they appear in the new look before the audience.
It's possible to see the same opera even 100 times and to find it different every time. My essay would be not complete if I didn't say about modern scene stars of opera theatres. they are Farit Husainov, Alexander Prudnik, Mikhail Pahomov, Galina Bibicheva, Lidiya Bondarenko, Liud mila Zhiguleva, Vyacheslav Prasolov, Margarita Sulimova and others. Of course, it's impossible to give coverage of all the history of the theatre, everything by what it lives today, the atmosphere of art, which you get after the entrance, and its internal quivering feeling, that a spectator has. But surely, the theatre was and it is the symbol of spiritual culture of Russian people.
