Mircea Eliade

Mircea Eliade

Mircea Eliade was a great Romanian contemporary writer and
philosopher. He spent his last ten years in America and he was given the
American citizenship. Mircea Eliade studied literature, yoga and philosophy.
He first dedicated his talent to literature, with the novels
and short stories, then he occupied some minor functions in diplomacy
(London, Lisabona), but he settled in France, where he worked at the
University of history and religion. In 1957 he settled in Chicago.
For Eliade, "the sacred" is an element in the consciosness of the
people and to be people is like to be religios. In 1949, he wrote the
"Treaty at history of religion", discribing the magic elements of
religions.
Other writings by Mircea Eliade are:"The sacred and the
profan"(1956), "Aspects of the myth"(1963), "The myth of eternal return"
(1969).
Mircea Eliade has written a wole masterpiece, which gives
us an invaluable treasure of wisdom and philosophy .
